Opinion posted...
you will have to scroll down a bit to find it. the date is messed up on it. I will have more postings about the Winkler case as they unfold. Remember, this is only my opinion. Feel free to share yours too.
It was out there, but I suspect Elizabeth has removed it. I thought her perception was right on (a similar situation nearly happened to members of my family), but a couple of commentors didn't like her opinion and were very blunt about it.
Thank you so much Elizabeth for your coverage and your thoughts on the case, the events leading up to this tragedy, and the possible consequences down the road. I am sorry some chose to be less thankful or courteous.
I definitely think you have been swayed by the popularity of the "Winkler" fame within the church. This is exactly why we are warned against holding men in any kind of esteem. There is no way the attorney's for Mary fabricated the items found. Do you have any idea what you are inferring? What Mary did was a crime and she certainly needs to face the music, however, Matthew--regardless of his looks, charisma, or who his relatives are was not a saint. He hid behind his family name and did what he did. Regarding Mary's demeanor in court--I will go with the psychiatrist from Yale's opinion that she could not have been acting. I believe that he probably knows a little more than you do about human behavior.
I looked through all of the recent posts, and can't find a real opinion on "Mary" and the verdict, just the reporter's "just the facts" of the events. (May 24, 2007). If, as some of you suggest, her Elizabeth's opinion was rather strong, I can understand how painful replies may have made her take the opinion (and comments) down! Maybe she'll post a revised opinion later? (Perhaps after sentencing?) I fully sympathize with her feeling stressed over harsh criticism!
Be strong! Sometimes we are the only Light people will see today!
