Music greats and a charitable weekend...

I love old school country music. Don Williams, Belamy Brothers, Tanya Tucker, Alabama, Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette just to name a few. Does anyone else remember the days of "Hee Haw?" That was a Saturday night tradition growing up. Mom would cook dinner first. We would sit around the table, eat and talk about the day. Then, we would help clean up and after Lawrence Welk, mom, dad Chris and I would grab a place in the den and watch "Hee Haw." Sunday night after church we would eat a banana sandwich and Funyun Rings and watch "Battlestar Gallatica" and "Buck Rogers." Doesn't get much better!!!! I miss those days.

I have really enjoyed this summer. The weather has been HOT but I'm that strange kind of person that lives for long sizzling days. Speaking of which, this Sunday I got the chance to attend the Emergency Medical Services Challenge at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville. It was a charity race between HEMSI, State Troopers, Huntsville Fire and Rescue, Madison County Sheriff's Department and Huntsville Police. Due to a little partying the night before, MCSD and HEMSI had to drop out of the race. :) One of the local car companies donated a "gently" used Ford Taurus for the EMS team to compete in. Picture this -- high speed racing cars, souped up go carts...and a 4 door family sedan . I think the best time for any of the drivers on the EMS team was 54 seconds. Not bad considering a Taurus isn't exactly a racing machine! The best part, the day was for a good cause and everybody had fun! Congratulations to the State Troopers for winning. They get there practice on the interstates! ha/ha Also kudos to Tyler! You did a great job on your first race!
